Optional Extras

Please note - we only provide these for a full week and anything asked for less than 2 weeks before arriving will entail an extra £50 handling cost

Boat (£190/week)

This rowing boat is a standard 13ft Orkney Spinner and comes with two wooden oars. The makers say it is suitable for a maximum of 3/4 people depending on their weight (Max load is 320kg) It’s ideal for fishing or for pottering up the loch for a picnic on one of the beaches.
If you want to fish, the boat is pretty much essential. From it you are allowed to fish anywhere on the loch. Without it you can only fish from our very short bank, which may involve a lot of upwind casting and dealing with the weeds that grow near the bank. The river can be fished from the bank, but is not worth the effort as nowhere near as good as the loch.
Please note that we do not supply lifejackets as we can’t be sure that they will fit you or any children correctly. You must therefore bring your own, as nobody is allowed in the boat without one.

Engine (£190/week)

Our electric engine will make a huge difference as it greatly extends how far you can go up the loch for picnics and makes fishing so much easier. Just trolling a fly out of the back saves a lot of casting and is just as effective. It is also very quiet, so you can listen to the birds and generally enjoy the peace of the loch.
It is an epropulsion spirit 1 plus which is much easier to use than a petrol engine. If not used all day, too fast, or too far, it may last all week on one charge. If you do need to recharge, it has a detachable battery which you can easily carry back to the house to plug in for the night.
NB. We reserve the right to substitute this electric engine for a petrol one if any maintenance issues arise and you are welcome to bring your own engine and fuel if you prefer.

Fishing Tackle (£150/week per set)

If you don’t have your own trout rods, or they won’t easily fit in your car for the journey up, we can provide them for you, along with a net, reel, sinking line, cast and a range of suitable wet flies.

Fishing Guiding (£175/ half day)

If you are not used to wet fly fishing in still water, we can supply a guide who can teach you enough in half a day to get you going yourselves for the rest of the week. It is best done on the Saturday morning after you arrive, but can be rearranged if required

Firewood (£150/week)

This is not needed in July or August but at other times when nights may be cold we recommend taking this (please bring your own firelighters). Alternatively you can buy locally.
